Bera Lake Malaysia
The natural freshwater Bera Lake or the Tasik Bera situated in the southwest of Pahang. Extending as much as 35 km in length and 20 km in width, the lake system remains devotedly in the main eastern mountain ranges of Peninsular Malaysia and drains into the Pahang river via the Bera river.
Being the largest freshwater source in Peninsualr Malaysia, Bera Lake remains a remote as well as unique wetland wilderness. A collage of dry dipterocarp forests surrounds the lake. Boasting of rich vegetation and wildlife, the lake also encourages diversification in the countless species of animals and plants. It seems unbelievable but the rustic, charming lake area houses more than 90 species of freshwater fish, 68 species of mammals, 200 species of birds, and 328 species of flora. Mostly, the Semelai division of the Orang Asli inhabitants depends on the wetlands of the Bera Lake for sustainable livelihood.
